Great Excitement and More Pictures

I am very excited today I have just ordered my ticket for The Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham for the 20th August I love this quilt show there is so much to see, the show quilts are usually breathtaking and there are so many stalls it takes a long time to get round sooo! lots of stops for coffee and pastries (always need a sugar boost) I will of course be missing my dear friend Cottonreel as she is sunning herself in Cyprus but she has given me her orders and I have a list of items I have to get for her.

The picture you see of the little graveyard is in Morthoe North Devon we used to walk to this village for coffee and found this peaceful place what a perfect place to be laid to rest. The other two photo's were taken as we were walking up from Woolacombe bay this was a very very steep hill and I thought I would not be able to make it but with lots of stops and encouragement from Tony I made it all the way home and believe me the views were worth it, we also saw some pretty little cottages on the way I walked 5 miles that day and I slept like a baby that night.

Clovelly North Devon

This is the lovely village of Clovelley in North Devon, Tony and I visited here when we were on holiday it is so pretty but it nearly killed me getting back up the street is so steep there are no motor vehicles and if you look carefully at the photo on the right you will see haow they transport everything it is a wooden sledge and all deliveries have to be broought down on these across the cobbles. Charles Kingsley lived in Clovelley as a child and returned as an adult many times, he wrote' Westward Ho!' while staying in the village and the village also inspired him to write 'The Water Babies'

Hooray! I Have Pictures

I am very excited because I can show you pictures again. Look at these lovely things I got from Laurie Star's Etsy shop they are so lovely, buttons are my downfall and these are special because she paints them herself I Love Them.

I took my friend cottonreel to the airport today, she was looking forward to seeing her beloved Cyprus, of course we could'nt say goodbye for a month without first having coffee and a pastry they were delicious, I can of course have coffee and pastries whil'st she is away but I know they will not taste the same I am so going to miss her. I am checking on her house every day and feeding the fish. I am going to keep busy so that the month goes quickly,I do have lots to do.
My daughter Kate has asked if cottonreel and I will do a stall at a charity event it is for The Eve Appeal and is called' Make Time for Tea' this is all about Ovarian Cancer awareness and apparently if you take time to drink two cups of tea a day this helps protect against Ovarian Cancer. We of course said 'Yes' we would do a stall so we have lots of things to make between now and 26th September and cottonreel has left me my orders for things we will need.
It has been a lovely day today and some gardening got done also some ironing and if you check into Green Fairy Quilts you will see that when she gets excited she Mops The Floor so I am trying to get very excited as I have lots of floor that needs mopping. It is so lovely to be able to blog again properly, I will put some of my holiday snaps on tomorrow.

A bit of a Sad Day

Hello, I have had a bit of a sad day today, I lost one of my brothers last week he had cancer and was very ill, he was also a good age but he was my brother and today I went to his funeral. It is always a bitter/sweet moment saying goodbye to someone you loved and saying hello to lots of
relatives you have not seen for ages. My family is a large one there were six girls and four boys, I have now lost two sisters and two brothers and all of the others are getting quite old, as I am the youngest, the baby of the family, it is quite hard to watch them grow old I of course am getting old too 63 but I still feel about 25, my best age. It was lovely to see all my neices and nephews and their children, my brother had quite a send off and was buried near my parents in Droitwich at St. Peters Church a lovely old church where I used to go to Sunday School and we used to have picnics in the fields that surround the church so, a happy place to be laid to rest. I'm off to do some quilting now this always cheers me up, my son is back from Italy tomorrow so I am hoping he will be able to sort out my photo problem see you all soon.

Rain Rain Rain and Knickers

It is a really awful day today the rain has not stopped, Cottonreel and I have been to Marks & Spencer for new knickers, she suddenly panicked because she is going away for a month to Cyprus she needed more knickers. Of course whilst we were there we had coffee and pastries.
I still cannot put any photo's on my blog but hopefully this should be fixed by the weekend.
I am going to tidy my sewing room today because I keep going in there and then coming back out thinking "I cannot face that today" but I have to get started or it will just get worse, once it is done I will love it again. Sorry this all looks a bit boring bit without photo's I can't get inspired.

Still Having Trouble

Hello! nice to hear from all you people again, I'm afraid I am still having trouble with my computer so no photographs yet. Cottonreel and I have been out today, we did the usual drank coffee and ate pastries, I bought my daughter two lovely dresses in a sale they are so pretty I will send them to her for a little surprise. My son Andrew is in Italy at the moment with friends so my husband and I are all alone it's Lovely! I am still hand quilting my yellow and white quilt I have a bout a quarter to do, it looks good, I have another in the pipeline this is in blues and pinks so I am keeping busy. Cottonreel is off to Cyprus for a month on Sunday I am taking her to the airport, I am going to miss her she is great company and makes me laugh a lot, she has been buying up most of the clothes shops and is ready for action when she gets there. There is a computer she can use so we will be hearing from her no doubt. We are going to have hair trims tomorrow so that probably means more pastries and coffee, Life is just too good.

Back from Holidays.

Hello everybody, sorry it has been such a long time since I blogged but I have been on holiday for 17 days and then when we arrived home we found the computer had a blue screen and so it has been with PC World for a few days getting put back together. They said it was an unexplained fault so I still do not know what happened. I will put some photo's on tomorrow when I have more time. I hope everyone is o.kI am looking forward to catching up with everyone's news. See you soon
