Country Quilt

Here is the country quilt I have been working on for my son Andrew and his girl Becky. They are 4 and a half in squares and the blocks were six rows of three. The blocks joined by the quilt as you go method which makes it easier for me to quilt on the machine, the machine quilting is not perfect but I will keep practising. I used lots of large scrap pieces for the backing of each block. I am really pleased with it but I am glad it is finished. I have so many ideas and so many fabrics to use but I think I am going to do something for me, I have lots of pretty sparkly bits and lots of lace loads of buttons so a pretty wallhanging for my bedroom seems like a good idea..

Just a few photo's

Tony with his Precious Daughter

Here they are Kate and her Dad, I was so proud of my lovely baby, we had the most wonderful happy day it truly was one of the happiest weddings which is just what kate and steve wanted, I have'nt got too many photo's yet as I was so wrapped up in what was happening I forgot to take many but there were loads taken and I will put them on as soon as possible. I am missing them already they flew out today to New York and are staying at the Waldorf Astoria I tried to e.mail the hotel but could'nt find the correct e.mail address to let the hotel know that they are a honeymoon couple and to make it really special for them, so if anybody out there works at this hotel please make Steve and Kate Boothroyds stay at your hotel a really great time. Is it normal to feel a little weepy now after it's all over because I do, perhaps it is relief too that everything went so well. The worst happened and the heavens opened when we were in church but the vicar let the photographer take his photo's in front of the beautiful stained glass window and these will be so special. The speeches were beautiful and Tony made his baby weep a little and Steve made us all weep a little when he told Kate how much he loved her and the best man made us all laugh with his wonderful speech about his brother and Kate. We boogied all night, it was very warm and the rain went away so people were able to sit outside around the fountain and enjoy a drink. The wedding cake was so pretty it was based on a Kath Kidston fabric and Steve's Aunty made it for them. The best was the happy happy atmosphere whwre friends and family bonded and had a brilliant time.

Lunch and Spa

Hello everybody just a quick post and a few photo's. We had a great lunch on Saturday with Kate's Grandma, Aunties and friends a lovely time was had by all. Then on Sunday Kate and I and Katie a friend of Kate's went to a spa for a relaxing day. I had never been to a spa before so this was a bit of an adventure for me. The house where we went was called Stapleford Hall in Melton Mobray Leics. it was a beautiful place. In the morning we had the pool to ourselves and relaxed in the jaccuzi, then we had lunch which was great and at 2.00pm we all started our treatments, I had a full body massage and a facial it was wonderful, the building where the treatments were done you can see on the photo believe it or not these are the old stables. We had our lunch at the main house and this was special, there were photo's all around of famous people who have stayed there Michael Jackson was one he was hugging some of the waitresses. The wedding is getting very close now and the butterflies in my tummy are getting bigger but I am really looking forward to seeing my baby get married. Do you like the wallpaper with the birds on ? it was glorious.

Teapots

Hello People, what a busy few days what with weddings and birthdays eye tests etc. it's been a bit hectic. yesterday when I went for my Eye Test in Hinckley I popped into all the charity shops, just in case! and I found these two teapots, Kate is looking all over for vintage teapots because they use them for their business for Vintage Teas, which is coming on nicely now, they did a Birthday Tea for a lady recently who was 75 and everybody had a lovely time the ladies loved all the old china and the lovely home made cakes, they have a wedding booked so people are beginning to hear about them. It is a lovely day today with warm sunshine and I have never seen so many butterflies they are everywhere, Lovely!!

My Bargain from TK Maxx

Sorry I have been missing for a few days I have been shopping for the wedding and Tony's birthday. Cottonreel and I went shopping on Monday but before we got to the boring bit we went on a mystery tour, we were looking for somewhere we had been before when we saw a sign for 'Wistow' which is where an old friend of Cottonreel lives so she said "Come on lets see if we can find Nancy". We found Wistow and then I had to rely on Cottonreels memory and sense of direction (neither very good), after a few false trails we eventually found the driveway to Wistow Hall part of which has been turned in flats and this is where Nancy lives. What a setting! beautiful countryside all around, sheep grazing and lovely flowers everywhere. We stopped outside an open window and Cottonreel got out she raised her voice a little and called Nancy through the open window, What a shock for poor Nancy who after a while forgave us for giving her a fright. We had a lovely time talking and then went to Wistow Garden Centre just down the road from the Hall, what a great place lots of little shops selling all sorts of nice things we mooched for a while and then had a lovely lunch from the cafe, sat out in the sunshine, we left Nancy with a promise of another visit wether she wants one or not. On Tuesday I was out shopping for Tony's birthday and I can never resist TK Maxx and I saw the above plate with a hole in the middle so obvously a cake stand, I looked everywhere for the rest of the set but found nothing. I then asked the girl at the register and she checked, she said it was an odd piece and I could have it for 70pence, I took it home and added the handle and 'voila' I have a lovely cake stand. Wednesday it was shopping again for the wedding I was looking for nice tights and they had to be pale and shiny I found them in good old M&S so I bought 3 pairs just in case. Today I am going to have a good go at my country quilt I really want to finish it now. I expect my postings will be a bit intermittent until after the wedding but I will do my best to put something on now and again. See You!

Kate is very excited, she is picking up her dress on Sunday, the straps had to be altered, sh will bring the dress here to my house because she does'nt want Steve to see it and she does'nt have a lot of room, she wants us to have a mom and daughter afternoon and try on all our stuff, these moments are so precious so I am going to enjoy every one. Have a good weekend.
