A continuation of Cushion Covers and Aprons

Here is another cushion cover with a flip and sew 8" panel in the centre I also covered three buttons and sewed them in a row on the front, the back is a pink stripe. The aprons are made with Ikea fabric and the cupcakes on the pockets are from a pattern book called Quilt me Gorgeous, I really enjoyed making these things and whilst I was doing it England beat the Aussies at cricket and we won back the Ashes, a perfect day.

Cushions and Aprons

I made this cushion with selvedges I have cut from my fabrics, I love it, the pattern is on Moda Bakeworks, I put a stripe fabric on the back and it goes really well. I have seen other things made with selvedges on peoples blogs and I thought it was a good idea hope you like it.

Happy Day

Hello everyone, we spent yesterday at Tony's parents doing things to their front garden, this delightful pair are in their 80's and decided they wanted a little adjustment to their front garden we levelled and spread extra soil from the front to the back, we left a shaped piece of lawn in the centre and spread a liner ready to cover with delicious pink shingle it looks good already and the stones will finish it off. We had to move some shrubs too so by last evening we were both shattered but we had a good day. I am sewing today as much as I can, getting a little more of my blue/pink quilt pieced and also making items for my daughters charity sale. Tony is going fishing this afternoon and my son Andrew has a new girlfriend so he is always off somewhere with Becky. I will enjoy my peaceful day. Hope you all have a good day too. Oh I will also be listening avidly to the cricket England v Australia in the final Ashes test we are looking good but those Aussies have a habit of coming back at you.

Oh Boy!! What A Day

Hi Everybody, we had a perfect day at the quilt show yesterday, so many beautiful quilts to see and so many ideas going around in your head it was a blast. The three of us got our photo taken as we went through the doors we gave him jazz hands a huge smiles so goodness knows where that will end up. It is quite funny to see all these people with their homemade patchwork bags and camera's at the ready all bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to hit the fabric stalls, the funniest sight is at about mid. afternoon when the eye's are not so bright and the tails have definitely drooped and watching people get up from a sitting position is hilarious their feet hurt their legs hurt their arms are tired from carrying all their loot and they definitly need a cup of tea. We all bought goodies I think silversewer spent the most but cottonreel and I both needed to hit the cash machine at one stage. We of course had coffee and huge muffins to start the day and we met friends there too. Cottonreel made Kaffe Fassett laugh which is not easy I don't know how she does it. By the time we came out we were spent out and worn out but very happy.

Leicester Market

Sorry I have'nt been blogging for a few days but I am a bit busy sewing at the moment. This is a picture of Kathleen 'cottonreel' in our market in the city of Leicester. We went shopping as usual on Monday and called here for lovely fresh fruit and veg., it is very noisy with all the stallholders shouting their wares, it is a mixture of fresh food, clothes antiques and lots of other items, there is a fresh fish market close by where my husband always goes on christmas eve to buy all the ingredients for paella which he makes for dinner and which has become a tradition in our family, even if he wanted to stop the kids would'nt let him. Kathleen of course could'nt resist posing, we had loads of bags which were very heavy, we had travelled in on the park and ride, so by the time we got on the bus to take us back to the car we had very long arms. I will post again soon but probably not tomorrow as we are off to The Festival of Quilts at the NEC we are very excited there will be three of us me 'bluebell' cottonreel' and 'silversewer' I had better take a quilted bag this time as last time cottonreel told me I had let the side down because I took a bag from 'Paperchase' it took me weeks to live that one down. See you soon!

Starting A New Quilt

This quilt is for a friend of my daughter Kate, the brief was to use pinks and blues, well I hope this is o.k I have laid a few to see if they look good together and I am quite pleased with them all I have to do now is put them together. The hearts are for my daughter Kate's charity sale which is to be held in September, The tiny one's I will make into key fobs and the larger ones are just for decoration, I love hearts and have them all around my home. Kathleen (cottonreel) is helping too and we are making lots of stuff to sell.
My friend cottonrell is home I picked her up at around 2am this morning and by 3am we were on the way home giggling all the way and looking forward to hitting the shops, She has had a good time with her son and his family and is rested and raring to go.

Going to the Airport.

Well! she's coming home, a little earlier than we thought but I think it was way too hot in Cyprus. I have to be at the airport at 00.50 in the morning so I am now going away to have a snooze.
