We Have moved

Hi people, we are finally in our new home and it is utter chaos, it was such hard work we worked solid for 3 weeks packing boxes and sorting stuff, we got rid of loads of stuff but I am afraid more must go, we still have too much stuff. I must be honest and say I was very emotional all day yesterday I felt we had made a terrible  mistake and I just wanted to go home, I phoned  Kathleen last night and she was a bit worried, she came around this morning and made things seem much better, there is a lot to do in this bungalow and I am sure that once a lot of the boxes have disappeared it will help, we are going to start on the Lounge first so that we have somewhere nice to sit and be comfortable, there is a doorway to be bricked up first and a fireplace to be ripped out and a new one to be put in, my son called in yesterday took one look at the fireplace and said " It's a bit Liberace Mum" it would look good in a big room but is far too big for our lounge so lots to do but I feel much better after a nights sleep, speak soon.

I know just how you feel, I felt the same after leaving our lovely house in France and downsizing.....but it does get better as you put your own look into the place.
And the first thing we did was to rip out a fire surround!

it is such an upheaval moving isn`t it and after we make the promise to "never move again" but somehow that does not last!
Not sure were you are in GB but do hope you settle and enjoy your new space, is it in the countryside or are you a townie?

Hi Jill,

Keep your chin up gal, moving is a nightmare and this move of ours was the worst we have ever done, The first thing we did was get the sitting room and bedroom straight and then worked through the boxes gradually. Offer the boxes on freececle and you will get them taken off your hands, people are always looking for boxes to move.

It will take time to get the place sorted and just how you want it, but you will get there, take before and after pictures and the nightmare will gradually fade.....look forward to planting another lovely garden......but different to your last one.

Moving into a crummy house is hard, I know we have done it several times. I have always left our houses pristine when we moved out, our movers were waiting for me to finish with the Dyson to close up the van. Trouble is other people do not have the same standards or respect for the people who are moving in and just walk out and leave the mess.

As you know we have moved several time but I can honestly say that we will not be moving again unless we are forced to and our children will have to do the work not me!!

Take care, remember to give yourselves time to relax, even if its just in the garden with a cup of tea. Do not try to do everything at once, I know you are feeling that everything needs doing,, take your time, it will get doone and in a few months your little bungalow will be like a show house and you will be able to enjoy life and your home.

Now you know why we had the removers pack for us. Apart from my sewing stuff they did everything, so much easier and less strain on the nerves, it was worth every penny we spent!!

Hope to catch up with you when I am next at Kathy's.
